Conditions
Shoulder pain can disturb sleep and make everyday activities difficult. At Wye Sanctuary, we offer specialist assessment and treatment, including suprascapular nerve blocks when appropriate, working alongside your surgeon and physiotherapist.
What causes shoulder pain?
Persistent shoulder pain may be associated with arthritis, rotator cuff problems, frozen shoulder or previous injury or surgery. Sometimes pain around the shoulder comes from the neck. Understanding the cause helps guide treatment.
How we can help
We review your symptoms, previous investigations and treatments, and how pain affects your sleep and daily activities. Your plan may include medication review, rehabilitation advice and targeted injections, coordinated with the professionals already involved in your care.
Suprascapular nerve blocks
A suprascapular nerve block is an injection around a nerve that carries pain signals from much of the shoulder. It may help reduce pain and make movement or physiotherapy more manageable. It does not repair the underlying shoulder condition, and the extent and duration of relief vary.
Working with your shoulder surgeon
If your surgeon has recommended a suprascapular nerve block, we can review their referral and relevant scan reports, assess whether it is suitable and discuss treatment with you. Pain management can support your care while awaiting surgery or when surgery is unsuitable.
If shoulder pain is affecting your sleep, movement or daily activities, we’d be happy to help. During your consultation we’ll review your symptoms, previous investigations and treatment options, then work with you to agree a practical plan.
